Richmond Wong was awarded a seed grant from the Atlanta Interdisciplinary AI (AIAI) Network for a project titled Exploring IT Tech Workers’ Commutes and Transit Infrastructure in Atlanta, with assistance from PhD students Soyoun Jang and Inha Cha.
This project seeks for an in-depth understanding on the spatial and cultural dimensions of AI production in Atlanta through the commuting practices of IT and tech workers. Specifically, we will conduct qualitative design research with tech workers in Atlanta to learn how they understand the city through their commuting practices. Our study aims to explore how people’s perceptions and lived experiences are (re)shaped over time by changing infrastructure, including interactions with both human and non-human elements and the impact of weather conditions.
